EXPERIENCE + KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITY (KSA)
Intermediate // Developing skills with some practical experience; able to perform tasks with or without assistance. 5+ years of professional experience in the field. Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings. Skills include use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively. Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.RESPONSIBILITIES
Ultimately, the Field Technician is responsible for the success of field operations to support project completion. 1. General Perform routine assignments with limited supervision. Expand technical knowledge and field capabilities. Coordinate with project staff as directed. Responsible for safely operating equipment. Travel locally and out of state, including overnights. May operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, as needed to support specific operational tasks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use. May cross train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE). 2. Safety + Compliance Comply with all safety procedures: Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and Project Safety Plans (PSP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures. Observe and follow QA/QC processes under supervision. Identifying and evaluating potential hazards in the work environment. Properly selecting and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Understanding of Traffic Control Plans (TCP). Be familiar with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing projects in their respective field. 3. Technical Independently locate and verify aerial, buried, and underground utilities using advanced non-destructive locating methods and multiple source validation. Identify, classify, and document telecommunications cabling, fiber routes, pole-mounted equipment, and underground structures with minimal supervision. Perform detailed pole line inspections, including attachment heights, clearances, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Accurately measure and document duct banks, conduit systems, handholes, manholes, and riser pathways, including multi-duct configurations. Safely access and work within telecommunications manholes and underground vaults, following confined-space and company safety protocols. Interpret and update as-built drawings, utility maps, and construction prints, identifying discrepancies between records and field conditions. Collect, validate, and submit field data using GPS, GIS, or mobile data-collection tools, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Produce and review CAD/GIS documentation in accordance with company and client standards. Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and recommend routing or placement adjustments based on field conditions. Coordinate with utility owners, contractors, and inspectors during field investigations. Provide on-the-job guidance and technical support to entry-level technicians as needed. Maintain compliance with OSHA, NESC, and company safety standards, and identify potential hazards in the field. Perform small cell site walks, photo docs, and constructability checks for poles, rooftops, and ground mounts. Verify utility service for power and backhaul availability. Document zoning and permitting related site photos, boundaries, and adjacency constraints. Provide permit package field inputs. Collect pole loading and make ready measurement details.COBBFENDLEY CHARACTERISTICS

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS + ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Tasks are divided between indoor and outdoor settings, with approximately 80% of duties performed in outdoor environments and 20% in indoor office or warehouse spaces. Cognitive Requirements. Selective attention, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech recognition, speech clarity, written comprehension, written expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, number facility, information ordering, category flexibility, flexibility of closure, fluency of ideas, and originality. Must remain alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high-traffic and dynamic areas. Physical Abilities. Includes hand-eye coordination, steadiness, upper and lower body strength, control precision, stamina, multi-limb coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, and depth perception. Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation or job site. Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, high-traffic areas, and various walking surfaces. Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard. Includes activities such as reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling. Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder. Capable of lifting, carrying, and balancing equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in various environments, including remote, rural, or urban settings. Ability to walk long distances (3+ miles) and climb on uneven surfaces. Office Conditions. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices. Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures). Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants. Ability to move effectively in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other outdoor assignments. Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with use of pneumatic, hand and power tools. Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time.EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, however, hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime. CobbFendley’s standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Generally, employees receive a 1-hour unpaid lunch break free of duty. Please note, operating hours and lunch hours may differ based on project workload, primarily for field staff.WORK LOCATION FLEXIBILITY
