Step into an impactful, specialized role serving students with visual impairments by providing Orientation and Mobility (O&M) services in the vibrant Southeast Texas Coast area. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a real difference, supporting a district experiencing a significant need for skilled O&M professionals. With flexible, part-time hours (approx. 20 hours per week) during the school year, you’ll contribute your expertise to enhance student independence across a variety of educational settings.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification required
• AVCREP Certification (or equivalent) required
• Experience supporting students with visual impairments in school environments preferred
• Uphold all Texas credentialing standards, including timely completion of fingerprinting
• Strong communication skills, collaborative spirit, and a passion for advocacy

Core Responsibilities:

• Assess student mobility needs and develop tailored instructional plans
• Teach and reinforce safe travel techniques in school and community settings
• Collaborate with teachers, family members, and other professionals to ensure students’ needs are met
• Document progress, prepare reports, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
• Travel between assigned campuses (number of sites to be determined)
• Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
