Description: The Registered Nurse will work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The unit follows ASPAN guidelines, ensuring safe patient care. Ratios maintained will never exceed 1:2 in Phase 1. There are always two RNs in Phase 2, with three RNs total. Weekend coverage is required approximately once every eight weeks. Call requirements include about 3-4 call shifts per month. Most call time occurs at the end of the day and rarely extends past 7 PM. Staff typically faces minimal call outs, and the response time is 30 minutes. Nurses must be dressed and ready to work within that timeframe. Staff works four 10-hour shifts each week. PreOp starts at 6 AM, Phase 1 at 8 AM, and Phase 2 at 7 AM. There is no floating outside of the department. Nurses will have 1-2 shifts with a preceptor after the main hospital orientation. The charting system used is EPIC.
