Finance Accounting Intern

Job Description
Matrix is looking for a strong Finance Intern to add to our Finance & Accounting team. We are looking for someone who can start immediately and work 20 hours per week:
As an intern, you will work with the team on the following:
- Perform general accounting duties including accounts payable, journal entries, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Reconciliations of bank and credit card statements
- Assist with the month-end close process and financial reporting
- Maintain key vendor and expense summary reports
- Ad-hoc projects and reports as requested
Qualification
We are looking for someone who:
- Has completed at least beginning level accounting courses
- Is responsible and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Has excellent problem solving, research and analytical skills, as well as effective communication and organizational skills
- Is detail-oriented and can work independently or as part of a team
- Possesses intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills (working knowledge of SQL is a plus)
- Can commute to our Chicago office
