Housekeeping AidThe housekeeping aids who maintain VA facilities for Veterans and their families are essential to the patient care experience at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). A VA healthcare career as a housekeeping aide means working alongside other Veterans, who make up 85 percent of the housekeeping staff. As a Housekeeping Aid, you will perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties. Veterans rely on the skills of these professionals to keep patient areas clean and safe by addressing spills quickly, discarding trash, vacuuming and polishing floors. Duties include, but are not limited to:Cleaning wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas.Sweep, mop, scrub (machine) floors, vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.Empty trash, waste baskets and replaces liners.Clean light globes and Venetian blinds, wash walls, windows and ceilings.Performed work by hand and with light and heavy powered (industrial type) cleaning equipment.Moves and arranges furniture, patient wardrobes, beds, etc. in the assigned area to accomplish cleaning tasks.Replenishes supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers and soap in all areas where dispensers are located.Clean and replace needle boxes.Work Schedule:Aspinwall: 1ST SHIFT MONDAY-FRIDAY/7AM-3:30PM 1ST SHIFT- (weekdays will vary but tour will include Saturday and Sunday)/7AM-3:30PM 2ND SHIFT-MONDAY-FRIDAY/2:30PM-11PM 2ND SHIFT- (weekdays will vary but tour will include Saturday and Sunday)/2:30PM-11PM Pittsburgh 1ST SHIFT-MONDAY-FRIDAY/6AM-2:30PM 1ST SHIFT-(weekdays will vary but tour will include Saturday and Sunday)/6AM-2:30PM 2ND SHIFT-MONDAY-FRIDAY/2PM-10:30PM 2ND SHIFT- (weekdays will vary but tour will include Saturday and Sunday)2PM-10:30PMThis is not a virtual position.Position Description/PD#: Housekeeping Aid/ PD99909-SRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedCritical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not ApprovedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not AuthorizedPhysical Requirements: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerate dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
