Position Overview

Franklin Development Corporation is seeking an experienced Estimator / Senior Estimator to join our growing commercial construction team. The ideal candidate will have 4–6+ years of estimating experience and a strong understanding of commercial construction plans, subcontractor coordination, scope development, and cost analysis. This individual will play a key role in preconstruction by preparing accurate estimates, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids, negotiating pricing, and developing comprehensive project budgets.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Develop and write comprehensive scopes of work for subcontractors and vendors.
• Solicit, review, analyze, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Negotiate pricing, scope coverage, and contract terms with trade partners and vendors.
• Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and potential project risks during the estimating process.
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and final estimates.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and internal project teams throughout preconstruction.
• Maintain current pricing databases and subcontractor/vendor relationships.
• Assist with value engineering and cost-saving recommendations.
• Support project handoff meetings and ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and construction documents (Shop Drawings, Submittals, ETC.).
• Experience preparing detailed scopes of work for subcontractors and vendors.
• Proven ability to negotiate pricing and scope with trade partners.
• Excellent understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications (Senior Estimator)

• Experience leading complex and high volume commercial construction estimates.
• Ability to mentor junior estimators and assist in developing estimating processes.
• Experience with budgeting, conceptual estimating, and preconstruction services.
• Established relationships with subcontractors and vendors within Florida markets.
