Job Description: The Social Worker is responsible for providing support to students with special needs. He/she will provide counseling as needed to individual and/or groups.The Social Worker is responsible for the coordination of accessing and collaborating with other resources within and outside of the school. Collaborate with families and community-based agencies to provide a comprehensive model of school-wide educational and mental health services, including referral to community services as necessary. Foster a school climate that addresses the individual needs of students with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other special needs Conduct direct counseling services in both small group and individual settings, in accordance with IEPs and individual student needs. Conduct parent training and/or family counseling through individual or group conferences based on individual need Review reports of suspected abuse or neglect and ensure proper actions are taken Collaborate with staff to evaluate and/or assess each student’s social-emotional functioning and adaptive behaviors on a regular basis Assist in the completion of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans using a team approach Provide guidance and training to staff on a variety of topics, including crisis management, effective approaches to working with special needs students, abuse and neglect, classroom management techniques, and teaching and learning strategies Develop and maintain working relationships between educators, parents, community services, and Benedictine staff.
