Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer in , United States

To support the Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor (SFR) Program, the contract-based Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer will develop methodologies for design and licensing analyses, perform transient and accident analyses, and contribute subject matter expertise while working fully remotely. Key responsibilities Develop methods for design and licensing basis events, including modeling of fuel failure and core degradation. Perform transient and accident analyses to meet safety analysis needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on functional and safety requirements. Establish and maintain documentation for analysis of record and methodology, and contribute to software qualification and hazard analysis. Required qualifications M.S. or Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or a relevant engineering degree with at least 10 years of experience in the nuclear field. Significant experience with transient and accident analysis codes and knowledge of nuclear systems thermal-hydraulic and reactor dynamics. Experience interacting with the US NRC on design and analysis methodology applications is strongly. Familiarity with EMDAP and Regulatory Guide 1.203 is required, with knowledge of RG 1.233.
