Opportunity:
Physician – Psychiatry

Job Details:

• Provide Friday evening/night call coverage from home for inpatient psychiatry, crisis intervention, and consultation & liaison services
• Perform on-site daily rounding and consults on Saturday and Sunday with overnight phone call only from home
• Report directly to the Associate Medical Director for Inpatient Services
• Provide direct patient care to patients of the Behavioral Health Department
• Conduct initial patient assessments including physical examination and development of detailed medical history
• Write orders for diagnostic studies, medications, treatments, and other patient care matters
• Review and interpret results of diagnostic studies and tests and incorporate findings into a care plan
• Document observations, test results, and all patient communication in the medical record in accordance with hospital policy and procedure
• Ensure patient records are maintained as confidential information
• Arrange for appropriate follow-up care and referrals for patients
• Provide healthcare and discharge information to patients and families and write discharge instructions
• Advise patients and families on the use of various medications including dosage, side effects, and composition
• Determine and discuss diagnosis and differential diagnosis with patients and document accordingly
• Follow established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement programs, and safety and infection control standards
• M.D. or PhD with a minimum of 3 years of related clinical experience required; 3rd year licensed residents also eligible
• Active State of Connecticut medical license required
• DEA registration, Controlled Substance certification, and CPR certification required

Compensation:
