Asst Dispatcher

Position Purpose: The primary function of an assistant dispatcher is to work in conjunction with the Dispatcher/Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the ordering and delivery of materials to customers in the day-to-day operations. Key Responsibilities: Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforce adherence to requirements. Complete warehouse and delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results. Coordinate with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets acceptable standards and generates positive feedback. Ensure compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program. Cooperate with the Safety Director and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation and analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims. Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time. Will frequently move about inside the office and warehouse. Must be able to operate basic office machinery. Must be able to communicate with team and management and exchange accurate information in these situations. Constantly working in office and warehouse environments. Minimum Qualifications: GED required. Preferred Qualifications: some college preferred. Minimum Years of Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience. Competencies: Effective Communication: Ability to express ideas, thoughts, and information clearly, concisely, and respectfully, both verbally and in writing. Organizational Skills: Aptitude for managing tasks, time, and resources efficiently to meet objectives, with an emphasis on detail-orientation and ability to multitask. Problem Solving: Applies critical thinking to understand issues, evaluate options, and develop practical solutions in daily tasks and branch operations. Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work productively in a team setting, showing respect for diverse perspectives and styles and willingness to contribute to group goals. Leadership Abilities: Experience in demonstrating leadership in academic or professional settings, setting examples for others and taking responsibility for outcomes. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with modern office software and technologies, demonstrating the ability to utilize these tools to increase efficiency and productivity. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing work environments, showing willingness to learn new tasks.
