Location: Melville, NY or Iselin, NJ (On-site 3-4 days/week)

Industry Focus: Mortgage Banking, Private Debt Funds, Depositories, and Credit Unions

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000

• Bonus: Discretionary, based on performance (can be up to 20%)

About the Firm: My client is a fast-growing financial services advisory firm specializing in niche verticals such as mortgage banking, private debt funds, depositories, and credit unions. The firm places a high value on client relationships, integrity, and developing strong internal talent. With ~90 employees across three offices, they offer the stability of a well-established firm and the agility of a closely held team.

Who We're Looking For: This is a great opportunity for someone currently in a Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting firm who wants more visibility, a better work-life balance post-busy season, and room to grow in a specialized financial services firm.

Responsibilities: Staff Auditor

• Assist in audits of financial institutions and related entities
• Perform substantive audit testing and document findings
• Collaborate with seniors and managers to execute audit plans
• Engage with clients as needed, particularly during busy season

Qualifications: Required for Both Roles

• At least 3 busy seasons of public accounting audit experience
• Strong understanding of audit methodology
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Willingness to work on-site in Walnut Creek 3–4 days/week
• Ambition to pursue a CPA license (if not already licensed)

Preferred (not required)

• Experience with financial services clients (mortgage banking, private debt funds, etc.)
• ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) experience — this is a big plus
• CPA license or parts passed for senior-level

• Work Schedule: Heavy hours during Q1 (Jan–April), lighter in summer
