Staff Psychologist- Outpatient Mental Health (EDRP Approved)

Summary The Battle Creek VA Medical Center’s Psychiatry Service is hiring a Psychologist to serve in the outpatient mental health clinic in Lansing, MI. This position has primarily clinical duties in outpatient clinics. The incumbent diagnoses mental disorders, conducts psychological assessments, treats mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provides adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Overview Location: Lansing, MI. Salary: $120,823 to $157,071 per year. Grade: GS‑13. Type: Permanent, Full‑time. Vacancy: 1. Application period: 09/29/2025 to 09/28/2026. Eligible for EDRP. Duties Psychological assessment and consultation, including interviewing, testing, report writing, and integrating findings into treatment plans. Psychological treatment, including brief/basic neuropsychological assessments and behavioral health interventions such as smoking cessation, pain management, adherence support, chronic or terminal illness management, and development of new therapy groups. Research: develop hypotheses, design and implement research programs, submit protocols for approval, present findings, and serve as consultant to other staff. Education and training: supervise psychology students, residents, interns; conduct seminars, case conferences, and other educational meetings. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, maintain timely documentation, and perform additional duties as directed by the Program Manager. Work Schedule Mon‑Fri 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Conditions of employment U.S. Citizen required. Drug testing required; refusal will result in denial of employment. Participation in influenza and COVID‑19 vaccination programs required. Qualifications Basic Requirements Citizenship: Only U.S. citizens unless no qualified citizens are available. English proficiency: Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Education: Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program; or a doctoral degree with a re‑specialization program; or a doctoral degree awarded 1951‑1978 with a dissertation primarily psychological. Internship: Completed APA or CPA accredited internship, or equivalent; board certification may satisfy if prior internship not accredited. Licensure: Full, current, unrestricted license to practice psychology at doctoral level in the United States. Experience At least 2 additional years of experience at GS‑12 level or equivalent, including at least one year at GS‑12, as a professional psychologist or post‑doctoral training program, demonstrating clinical practice skills. Knowledge of professional psychological treatments and ability to provide professional advice and consultation. Knowledge of clinical research literature.
