ASRC Federal Advanced Research is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support autonomous vehicle integrations in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The US Army is exploring advancements to equip ground combat forces with autonomous vehicle platforms. This effort presents an opportunity for civilians to participate in R&D that will shape future battlefield combat platforms. Responsibilities Electrical and electronic design, system and component integration and development, and the production of electrical systems and equipment by developing, troubleshooting, and testing component solutions. Generation of scope of work estimates (Rough Order of Magnitude and Quotes) and engineering estimates for manpower, material, schedule requirements, and potential risks to meet customer requests for electrical system integration support. Supervision of the design, manufacturing, assembly, and installation of electrical vehicle systems and correction of flaws or malfunctions, including wire harness development/documentation, wire routing, and component selection. Design and develop electrical equipment solutions, including electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, and MIL-spec wiring in military vehicles, vehicle subsystems, communications systems; and for power generation, control, and data transmission. Develop manufacturing processes for MIL-spec cables and harnesses by designing and modifying military vehicular wiring systems. Resulting designs are documented in AutoCAD, Visio, Harnware or Creo for mass production. Develop electrical schematics, “One-Wire” interconnect diagrams (power, signal, and data), system integration drawings, system requirements, Bills of Material, and supporting documentation for Developmental & Product Technical Data Packages (per MIL-STD-31000). Strong background in a commercial production environment capable of programming/maintaining assembly line equipment, including PLCs, motor control drives, and assembly-line robotics is preferred. Build, test, and modify product/vehicle systems and subsystem prototypes. Complete projects by training and guiding technicians. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Required Qualifications Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance. Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS, 25% annually. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years of work‑related experience designing, assembling, and troubleshooting electrical systems. An engineer with a hands‑on approach is preferred.
