Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible to prepare accounting information by analyzing, recording, verifying, consolidating, entering, and monitoring transactions; preparing trial balances and financial statements; producing payroll; supporting external auditors; helping team members. Primary Responsibilities Leads the organization's accounting activities, including financial record keeping and reporting Maintaining records of organization's financial activity in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act Creating reports on financial performance for internal and external use Completing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to foreign exchange, cash management and tax, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities Supporting and assisting junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills Reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, journal entries and month end close. Analyze monthly gross profit and reconcile distribution system reporting to financial system reporting Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly; communicate across departments and corporate accounting to resolve outstanding items Review balance sheet accounts prepared by corporate accounting and resolve outstanding items. Monitor asset acquisition, transfer, and disposition activities Prepare interim and annual external audit schedules Support internal and external audit activities, as required Link all journal entries with appropriate backup to document number Resolve internal and external customer issues and inquiries in a timely and satisfactory manner Perform other job related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor s Degree in Accounting and 2-3 years of experience Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills Experience in balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement preparation within a large accounting group Physical Demands Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15lbs EEO Statement Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits, an Affiantive Action/EEO employer, prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type and provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state and local laws.
