Staff Nurse Emergency Department

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury, alleviating suffering through diagnosis and treatment, and advocating for the care of individuals and families. Compliance with all standards of practice and professional development is essential, following the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services, Nursing Division policies, and relevant standards and ethics. Job Responsibilities: Manage patient care by assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management. Administer medications safely according to UHS Hospitals policy. Contribute to productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing and time management. Participate in the Nursing Shared Governance Model and improvement initiatives. Engage in professional development and continuing education. Incorporate nursing research and evidence into practice. Support learning for new employees and students. Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned. Skills: Required Skills & Experience: Collaboration Communication (verbal & written) Judgement/Critical Thinking Organizational Understanding Planning (Organizing, Time Management) Problem Solving Quality Reliability Safety and Risk Management Preferred Skills & Experience: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting Schedule Notes: 12 nights, 7p-7a, 36 hours/week, every other weekend. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS. Required experience: 3 years current experience in an ED with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care.
