Intern

KVC Missouri - Practicum Student

As an intern, the position participates in a multi-disciplinary treatment team in the care of children.

Staff members are expected to work with children and families, community partners and each other using KVC values of Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Open Honest Communication, Team Work and Continuous Improvement. Additionally, staff members are expected to be a role model for children and families, be solutions focused and build upon their strengths. KVC policies employees are also expected to maintain knowledge of, and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Other duties may be assigned according to qualification of staff and development of programs.

• Establish and maintain good relationships with appropriate boundaries with children
• Role model positive behaviors and coping skills for children in care using a strength based approach in all interactions
• Operate according to KVC's model of care and program operations manual
• Function within agency's policies and procedures as outlined in employee handbook and in applicable treatment plans
• Complete required paperwork (i.e. logs and reports) and other relevant documentation
• Achieve positive outcomes for youth
• Maintain the safety and security of the children in care and attend to their needs in a nurturing way
• Provide complete documentation as required
• Assist in the planning, scheduling and implementation of on-site and offsite activities
• Attend team meetings, departmental, treatment and planning meetings and other information sharing meetings in regards to clients
• Conduct self in a professional manner with children, coworkers, parents, and referral sources
• Complete required training
• Participate in special program components
• Perform all other duties as assigned by KVC

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited high school.

Licensure/Certification: Valid driver's license.

Experience: Experience working with children and families; currently working toward a degree in social work, psychology, or another related field.
