Veterinary Technician (Day Shift)

PetVet Care Centers' A-Animal Clinic & Boarding Kennel is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician (Day Shift) to join our team. Position Overview The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and patient discharge, and maintaining patient medical records. Key Responsibilities Conduct examinations and interviews; review care plans and records; complete laboratory tests, studies, and diagnostic imaging. Take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, drugs, vaccines, and bandage and wrap wounds. Assist patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing patients, and restraining them as directed by the veterinarian. Apply comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and drug administration. Obtain and verify medications. Ensure patients have food and water, clean their rooms, cages, and equipment, and observe them for clinical signs of disease. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging, and securing controlled drugs. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing instruments, sanitizing holding and operating areas, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, and following all applicable legal regulations. Document patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes in accurate medical records and update the database in a timely manner. Communicate with pet owners about patient status. Maintain equipment according to operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs. Maintain inventory and place orders for needed supplies, verifying receipts. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional journals. Release pets to owners as directed, ensuring each animal is clean and properly groomed before release. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) Skilled Surgery Technician. Preferred Skills (Nice To Have) Previous experience in animal medicine. $17—$23.23 USD
