Founding Dental Assistant - Part-Time

Wanted: A Founding Dental Assistant Who Wants to Build Something Magical HP Pediatric Dentistry, Highland Park NJ Most jobs hand you a finished office and a 40-page manual. This one hands you the keys on day one (and maybe a sticker). HP Pediatric Dentistry opens in December 2026 at 901 Raritan Ave in downtown Highland Park. New space, new team, and right now that team is me, Dr. Avi. I bring 13 years of experience, and along the way I've trained and mentored more than 10 dental assistants. Now I'm looking for a founding dental assistant to help build the pediatric office kids actually beg to come back to. Why this job is different: You work side by side with me, not ten layers down Your ideas shape how we run things: how we welcome families, set up rooms, and turn nervous kids into high-fivers You learn the whole office, chairside and front desk, so you're never boxed into one role You grow with the practice: part time to start, more hours as we get busier The details: Part time, days flexible (thinking Sundays + Thursdays, built around both our schedules) Start date 1–2 weeks before our December 2026 opening Paid pre-opening setup days: help set up the rooms, the sterilization flow, and how we welcome families before the first patient walks in Pay: $24–$28/hr based on experience, + $2/hr if you hold NJ RDA registration Perks: scrubs provided, paid sick leave A day in the life: Chairside assisting for kids from toddlers to teens Taking and processing x-rays Sterilization and room setup (we like things spotless) Front desk while we're growing: greeting families, answering phones, scheduling, and check-in/check-out. As we get busier, we'll hire a dedicated front desk teammate and you'll shift back to mostly clinical Being the reason a scared 4-year-old leaves with a huge grin You bring: NJ dental x-ray license (Limited License in Dental Radiologic Technology) Patience, a sense of humor, and a real love for kids Comfort on the phone and with parents at the front desk (we'll train you on our software) Bonus: NJ RDA registration, pediatric experience, and current BLS certification Bonus points if you're a Harry Potter fan.
