The Medical Coder accurately and efficiently codes hospital outpatient and professional service using official code sets and classifications systems to obtain the most accurate data based on documentation.Title: Medical Coder II Location: Remote Schedule: 8am – 5pm in Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones Department: Insurance Reports To: Coding Supervisor Compensation: $26-$30 per hour, depending on qualificationsKey Responsibilities:Read and analyze patient recordsAccurately and efficiently code for a variety of services including but not limited to, evaluation and management, laboratory, imaging, injections and infusions, and specialty surgical procedures in the clinic and hospital outpatient settings.Monitor, research, and correct claim denials within health plan requirements and document any trends with which to follow-upSubmits clean claims for paymentComplies with Federal and State standards utilizing CCI edits, Medicare bulletins, ACR bulletins, etc. to keep abreast of the changes within the industryMaintains knowledge of and complies with coding guidelinesFind documentation in multiple EMR systems such as EPIC, ECW, Cerner, MeditechInteracts with clients to ensure accuracyMaintain patient confidentiality and information securityMaintain an error rate of 5% or lessMust meet production goals assigned by supervisorRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent5 years of on-the-job experience in abstract coding and coding denials for both hospital outpatient and professional claimsPayor and Policy Research experienceExperience Epic platformAny of the following certifications by AAPC or AHIMA (Proof of current certification required): Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)Certified Professional Coder (CPC)Or equivalent certification from AAPC or AHIMAPreferred Qualifications:Associates degree or equivalent in Health Information ManagementMediTech experienceRural Health Clinic experienceCritical Access Healthcare experienceEmployment eligibility:Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hireThe company does not provide employment visa sponsorship for this positionAs a condition of employment, a pre-employment background check will be conductedAt this time, we are unable to consider candidates residing in the state of New York for this positionWhat We Offer:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceHSA and FSA available401(k) with company matchPaid Wellness Time and HolidaysEmployer paid life insurance and long-term disabilityInternal growth opportunitiesMeduit is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
