Job Description The Ultrasound Technologist provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. Essential Functions Ensure proper patient identification, verify orders, and prepare patients for exams. Use proper imaging techniques to ensure timely, safe, and high quality diagnostic exams. Demonstrate the ability to perform any exam on all ages of patients (neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics) using appropriate protocol and following ACR guidelines. Demonstrate proficiency on all clinical equipment within the department. Complete and annotate a medically acceptable exam, following ACR guidelines while producing maximum diagnostic information in a minimal amount of time. Follow appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtain consents if necessary, document events, maintain a current QC program for ACR and report any equipment failures or problems. Exhibit good safety practices in body substance protection, cleaning of equipment, using proper sterile techniques, and removing any expired materials. Thoroughly and accurately complete all required documentation, including timestamps and image storage. Minimum Qualifications – Ultrasound Tech I ARRT Registry or ARDMS Registry. ARDMS must include successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, and vascular). Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers. Preferred Qualifications – Ultrasound Tech I Ultrasound experience. RVT. Minimum Qualifications – Ultrasound Tech II Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department after obtaining Ultrasound Tech I (secondary children’s one of the two years must be pediatric experience). American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry – Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries). Options include Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS). (Primary Children’s one of the two registries must be pediatric). Health Services BCLS – Basic life support certification for healthcare providers. Preferred Qualifications – Ultrasound Tech II Additional experience. Additional registries. Vascular experience. RVT. Physical Requirements Need to see, read, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication and comprehension, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision; frequent computer use and typing for documentation. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to heavy items. Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, carrying heavy items, navigating crowded spaces. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Location Saint Joseph Hospital, Denver, Colorado Work Details Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36. Pay range: $38.77 - $59.82 per hour (actual hourly rate dependent upon experience).
