Retail Controller

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing omnichannel retail business. This individual will oversee the monthly close, inventory and cost accounting, returns and chargeback accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls. The Controller will partner closely with leadership, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and scalable processes. Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and preparation of financial statements. Oversee general ledger, account reconciliations, accruals, and internal controls. Manage inventory accounting, including valuation, reserves, reconciliations, and physical counts. Oversee accounting for customer returns, refunds, chargebacks, deductions, and revenue recognition. Partner with operations and supply chain teams on inventory controls, costing, and process improvements. Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital reporting. Coordinate annual audits, tax compliance, and external reporting requirements. Lead and develop the accounting team while supporting broader finance initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. 8+ years of accounting experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller experience. Experience within e-commerce, retail, apparel, or consumer products industries. Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, returns reserves, chargebacks, and revenue recognition. Experience supporting both direct-to-consumer and wholesale sales channels. Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
