Administrative Patient Services Representative
Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as an Administrative Patient Services Representative is vital in creating a welcoming and efficient environment for patients. You will be the first point of contact, assisting patients through registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and providing essential support throughout their healthcare journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and collect accurate demographic and insurance information, ensuring data is entered correctly into the system.
- Update patient records as needed and obtain necessary consents and forms.
- Verify insurance coverage through direct contact with providers or electronic systems, securing pre-authorizations or referrals when required.
- Explain insurance benefits and financial responsibilities clearly to patients.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly answering calls, addressing concerns, and providing information.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other payments in line with organizational policies.
- Support efficient claims processing and patient satisfaction by managing work queues effectively.
- Assist patients in navigating online patient portals and adapt flexibly to shifting work assignments based on business needs.
Education
High School Diploma or GED is required. Completion of an accredited medical receptionist program or two years of healthcare experience is preferred.
Experience
At least six months of experience in office, call center, customer service, or healthcare settings is preferred. Proficiency with computers and data entry is important.
Requirements
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Ability to concentrate and perform duties under time constraints with attention to detail.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, assist and transport patients in wheelchairs, and lift up to 10 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a standard office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, and other conditions.
