We manage our social and environmental impacts globally and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.The Decarbonization Strategy team is seeking a Tech Business Developer III to identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships that advance Amazon's decarbonization objectives. In this role, you will own the management complex, cross-functional business development opportunities — from evaluating and managing partner relationships to tracking and reporting on their business impact. You will define and execute BD strategy with limited oversight, working across Amazon's Sustainability Science & Technology, Finance, and Public Policy teams to drive outcomes with cross-organizational impact.The ideal candidate combines strong business development instincts with fluency in decarbonization frameworks and the external landscape of standards, policy, and market mechanisms. They will bring experience managing complex stakeholder ecosystems and translating evolving external developments into actionable strategies that inform internal roadmaps and business priorities. A key dimension of this role involves engaging with external standard-setting bodies and industry coalitions shaping GHG accounting methodologies and supply chain emissions frameworks.Key job responsibilities• Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships and complex cross-functional deals that advance Amazon's decarbonization strategy; own the full partner lifecycle from sourcing through ongoing relationship management.• Develop and execute business development strategy that complements broader program and product goals; gather and synthesize partner feedback to inform priorities and direction.• Engage with external standard-setting bodies, industry coalitions, and technical working groups relevant to GHG accounting, supply chain emissions, and related decarbonization frameworks to bring Amazon’s expertise to these forums. • Build and maintain relationships with a diverse external ecosystem including standard setters, academics, civil society organizations, and industry leaders.• Translate evolving external standards developments into actionable corporate strategy; collaborate with Sustainability Science, Technology, and Finance teams to ensure internal standards and data infrastructure reflect emerging best practices.• Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader for both internal and external audiences; communicate complex topics clearly across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.• Partner with internal product and service teams to surface market and partner insights that inform future development priorities.Basic qualifications- 5+ years of in program management, workforce strategy development, or metrics-driven decision making experience- Bachelor's degree- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level- Experience explaining complex technical concepts to various business and technical audiences- • 6+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or a related field, with a track record of identifying, negotiating, and closing complex deals.- • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional programs and delivering measurable outcomes across multiple teams and organizations.- • Demonstrated experience building and managing external stakeholder ecosystems, including government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, or standard-setting bodies.- • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights and make data-driven recommendations in highly ambiguous environments.- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to present and advocate effectively to senior leadership.Preferred qualification - Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations- • Advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Public Policy, or a related field.- • Familiarity with product-level carbon accounting methodologies, including product carbon footprint (PCF) standards and emerging ISO or sector-specific guidance.- • Track record of convening diverse stakeholders from civil society, industry, and government around climate or sustainability initiatives.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
