Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) Supervisor

CSU Supervisor – Crisis Stabilization Unit South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced CSU Supervisor to lead daily operations within our Crisis Stabilization Unit. This middle management role is responsible for overseeing staff, ensuring quality patient care, and maintaining efficient unit operations in a fast‑paced behavioral health environment. The Supervisor works with a high degree of independence while collaborating with leadership and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective client care, staff performance, and regulatory compliance. This role is critical to maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for both clients and staff. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences (required) 1–3 years of supervisory experience (required); 3–5 years preferred 1–3 years of experience in the mental health field (required) Strong written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and documentation systems Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida Experience in acute care or crisis stabilization settings Medical or clinical background Duties and Responsibilities Administrative Leadership Manage daily unit operations, staffing, and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage Hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate staff performance Develop staff through coaching, feedback, and performance improvement plans Administer disciplinary actions when necessary Ensure unit compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards Maintain adequate unit supplies and oversee facility needs (housekeeping, maintenance, dietary) Monitor and maintain accurate documentation, including reports and incident tracking Oversee client valuables and safe procedures Participate in and support monthly staff meetings Conduct fire drills, inspections, and safety compliance activities Provide on‑call support to ensure 24/7/365 unit operations Step in to support staffing needs within scope of practice Clinical Oversight Lead and direct the treatment team to ensure appropriate care and discharge planning Monitor client legal status in accordance with Florida Statute 394 (Baker Act) Conduct regular chart reviews to ensure quality and compliance Promote best practices in client care, safety, and treatment outcomes Core Competencies Strong leadership and team management skills Ability to make sound decisions in high‑pressure environments Effective conflict resolution and problem‑solving abilities High level of accountability and organizational skills Strong clinical awareness and attention to detail Ability to motivate, coach, and develop diverse teams Commitment to patient‑centered, compassionate care Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the unit Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or crises Occasional lifting, bending, and assisting with physical interventions Ability to work extended hours or respond to on‑call needs Working Conditions Fast‑paced acute care psychiatric environment Exposure to high‑stress and crisis situations Interaction with individuals experiencing severe mental illness Requires adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards On‑call responsibilities to support continuous operations Performance Standards Effectiveness of unit operations and staffing management Quality and compliance of documentation and chart reviews Staff performance, engagement, and retention Adherence to safety and regulatory standards Responsiveness to crises and operational challenges Collaboration with leadership and multidisciplinary teams Compensation & Schedule Full‑time position.
