Responsibilities


The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Monitor students during overnight sleeping hours to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Complete scheduled student safety checks and room rounds throughout the night.
• Observe and document student sleeping patterns and overnight behaviors.
• Report unusual behavior, safety concerns, or student needs to appropriate staff members.
• Provide 1:1 observation support when assigned.
• Assist with student personal care needs, including laundry and other support tasks when necessary.
• Complete routine housekeeping duties, including cleaning assigned areas and maintaining organization.
• Conduct medical record audits and complete required documentation.
• Complete Quality Assurance Improvement (QAI) assignments as assigned.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain familiarity with emergency response procedures, including fire, disaster, and student safety protocols.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Night Staff Supervisor or Program Director.

Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong observation and communication skills.
• Ability to remain attentive, professional, and dependable during overnight hours.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for adolescents.
• Ability to complete required annual training requirements.

Preferred:

• Experience working with youth, adolescents, behavioral health, mental health, residential treatment, healthcare, education, or related fields.
• CPR Certification.
• First Aid Certification.
• Experience with documentation and record-keeping.
• Interest in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Nursing, Behavioral Health, or Healthcare careers.

Additional requirements include:

• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and grasp.
• Ability to run after students who attempt to leave the facility without authorization.
• Ability to assist with approved therapeutic safety interventions when necessary.
• Ability to escort physically resistant students when required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively during routine and emergency situations.
• Ability to monitor students and maintain awareness of the environment throughout the shift.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach during overnight shifts.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to conduct routine student safety checks and facility rounds throughout the night.
• Ability to maintain continuous awareness of student safety and wellbeing.
• Ability to remain alert and responsive during overnight hours.
• Ability to communicate effectively during routine and emergency situations.
• Ability to assist with approved crisis intervention and safety procedures when necessary.
• Ability to document observations and complete required reporting accurately.
• Ability to respond quickly to student emergencies or safety concerns.
• Ability to work in an active behavioral health and residential treatment environment.
