Imagine a career where every word you help shape and every sentence you untangle creates ripples of empowerment across ages. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the lively city of Louisville, you will embrace the rewarding challenge of addressing communication and swallowing disorders while sparking inspiration in the hearts of your patients. Whether you are guiding young children in their first vocal adventures or assisting older adults in regaining their voice after a setback, your expertise will be pivotal in crafting connections.
This position offers a dynamic and fulfilling chance to work with diverse populations, providing both outpatient therapy and occasional inpatient support. Your passion might lie in helping toddlers articulate their feelings, assisting adults coping with neurological challenges, or supporting the elderly in restoring cognitive function; whichever path you choose, you will thrive in an enriching environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments for patients of all ages utilizing standardized tests and observational analysis.
- Design individualized treatment programs that cater to immediate and enduring communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
- Engage in personalized speech therapy with a focus on improving communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing skills.
- Collaborate seamlessly with a team of healthcare professionals, including physical and occupational therapists, doctors, and family members, to devise cohesive treatment plans.
- Deliver education and resources to patients and families to enhance continuity of care beyond therapy sessions.
- Provide occasional evaluations and interventions for inpatient speech therapy to ensure comprehensive support along the treatment journey.
- Accurately document patient interactions in accordance with regulations and organizational standards.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in the speech-language pathology field through continued education and professional development.
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) pending ASHA certification.
Certifications
- Must possess state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be acquired within 30 days of hire.
Skills
- Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches for all demographics, accompanied by a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired disorders in speech and language.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Capability to modify therapy techniques to respect and accommodate cultural and linguistic diversity.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and clinical judgment are essential.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and adherence to documentation protocols.
Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Flexible work schedules to enhance work-life integration and accommodate varying caseloads.
- Specialization opportunities in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday remuneration.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
- Tuition reimbursement for continuing education and encouragement for professional growth.
- A collaborative environment that prizes teamwork and ongoing learning.
