Direct Support Professional

Job Description

We seek a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team for awake night shifts (7pm-7am). We are also seeking day shift (7am-7pm). In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with varying needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and dignity. You will work closely with individuals to assist them in daily living activities and promote their independence while adhering to their rights and preferences.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
Provide individual observations to monitor health status and report any changes or concerns.
Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring compliance with individual rights and safety protocols.
Engage individuals in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
Assist with heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring proper techniques are used for individual safety.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for individuals by following hygiene and sanitation practices.
Foster positive relationships with people we support while respecting their needs and preferences.

Experience

Previous experience in direct support roles or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge of medication administration protocols is beneficial.
Experience in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities
Strong communication skills and working collaboratively within a team setting are essential.
A commitment to upholding individual rights and promoting dignity in care is crucial for success in this role.
Ability and availability to do 12-hour shifts.
