Acute Lead Physical Therapist, FT

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), a leading academic health center recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and health sciences education, is seeking an Acute Lead Physical Therapist, FT, to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this key clinical leadership role, you will provide advanced, evidence-based physical therapy services to patients in the acute care setting while serving as a clinical resource and mentor to other therapists and rehab staff. As the Acute Lead Physical Therapist, you will manage a complex caseload of medically fragile and post-surgical patients, performing comprehensive evaluations, developing and progressing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating safe, effective mobility and functional recovery from admission through discharge. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care and optimal clinical outcomes. You will provide day-to-day clinical leadership for the acute care PT team, offering guidance on best practices, supporting clinical decision-making, and helping to standardize care pathways across service lines. You will participate in onboarding and mentoring of new staff and students, provide informal and formal clinical education, and support performance feedback in collaboration with management. You will help drive quality improvement initiatives, contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols, and participate in data tracking and outcome measurement to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
