Cedars-Sinai's Clinical Nutrition Program has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Registered Dietitian II to contribute to our mission of providing world-class care.

What will you be doing in this role?

At Cedars-Sinai, our Registered Dietitians/Clinical Dietitians consistently demonstrate professional skills and abilities, with a broad knowledge base and strong clinical skills that are demonstrated in direct patient care, in consulting with patients, family/caregivers, physicians, nurses, and other allied health care professionals.

As a Clinical Dietitian II at the Cedars-Sinai you will provide nutritional guidance to patients.

• You will assist in nutrition assessments and coordinate the nutrition care service needs for patients in an inpatient setting.
• Facilitate patients/family/caregiver/client active participation in establishing nutrition related goals and objectives.
• Collaborate and communicate with interdisciplinary team and the department leadership in the provision of quality care. Document care in the medical record.
• Contribute to health care team functions through the multidisciplinary care planning processes.
• Supervise the clinical nutrition care functions of the registered dietetic technicians (DTR)
• Participates in the development and/or revision of educational materials, guidelines, protocols and other resources to support clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and implements routine and specialized nutritional assessments. Collaborates with patient/client to facilitate active participation and assess individual needs to establish mutual nutrition-related goals.
• Follows the Nutrition Care Process and applies clinical skills to promote disease management in a multitude of care settings. Utilizes Nutrition Focused Physical Exam (NFPE) skills to assess malnutrition prevalence and severity and provides training to other clinical team members.
• Communicates nutrition care with the multidisciplinary clinical team and the food service department, to ensure the highest quality of nutrition care.
• Actively participates in interdisciplinary care meetings such as rounds, patient care conferences, and discharge planning. Appropriately documents all care in the medical record. Attends and contributes in department meetings and huddle discussions.
• Evaluates, addresses, and documents the patient's nutritional related education needs, barriers to learning, and cultural and religious preferences. Evaluates and tailors education to meet individual learning needs and assesses level of understanding. May develop or edit departmental education materials. Records patient productivity on a daily basis.
• Acts independently as a preceptor for student RD/RDN/DTR training programs. Acts as a resource for new RD/RDN/DTRs and less experienced team members.
• Continually stays abreast of current evidence-based nutrition recommendations through a variety of continuing education activities. Engages in ongoing self-development to improve knowledge and enhance professional competence.
• Performs quality assessment and performance improvement projects by giving input on policies and procedures, workflows, and practice guidelines. Takes initiative to identify and act on quality and improvement issues.
• Adheres to the Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics and hospital code of conduct and general expectations policy. Follows hospital, state, and federal guidelines and policies.
• May participate in or generates research to enhance practice. Reviews research and effectively applies findings to practice. Bases practice on sound scientific principles and utilizes evidenced-based recommendations. May help design and implement the collection of data and documents outcomes within the practice setting.
• Represents the Clinical Nutrition and Food & Nutrition Services in a positive manner at meetings, committees, and other system activities. May participate on various intra- or interdepartmental committees.
• Conducts service recovery and is able to resolve routine escalations. Partners with appropriate departmental leadership to address significant satisfaction or any safety issues.
• Makes appropriate referrals to community resources as needed and may engage in internal and external health and wellness activities.

Qualifications

Experience :

• Minimum two (2) years' experience as a clinical dietitian/registered dietitian in an acute care setting or environment consistent with job responsibilities
• Organizational ability to include coordination of multiple projects within established timeframes, problem analysis and resolution, and excellent interpersonal skills. Patient oriented.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition required.
• M.S. in field related to job requirements preferred.

License/Certification Requirement's:

• Certification as Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration required
