The success of SCC is rooted in the mission of serving the community by "focusing on academic excellence, student success, workforce advancement, and life-long learning within a global society."SCC is seeking a full time Electrician Instructional Coordinator to provide leadership, coordination, and instructional support for electrician and electrical technology programs. The position ensures program quality, instructional consistency, safety, and compliance with academic and industry standards.The Coordinator supports curriculum coordination, scheduling, laboratory readiness, equipment maintenance, assessment of program effectiveness, and student success initiatives. Teaching responsibilities may comprise up to 49% of the assigned workload and are limited to electrical and electrician-related disciplines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Coordination, Oversight, and EffectivenessCoordinate and oversee electrician and electrical technology programs to ensure alignment with industry standards, academic expectations, and workforce needs.Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, student outcomes, and instructional delivery; assist with continuous improvement initiatives.Assist in the preparation and review of the college catalog, class schedules, course descriptions, and other public information related to assigned programs.Maintain accurate academic, equipment, and program records in accordance with institutional policy, state and federal regulations, and Board of Trustees requirements.Support recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives for assigned programs.Using the BILT (Business & Industry Leadership Team) model of employer engagement, develop and maintain partnerships with industry and workforce stakeholders to support student placement and program relevance.InstructionTeach selected credit-based courses and/or laboratory sections in electrical and electrician-related disciplines based on credentials and program needs, not to exceed 49% of assigned workload.Ensure instruction reflects current industry practices, electrical codes, safety standards, and learning outcomes.Support students through clear communication, technical demonstrations, and verification of competency.Develop and maintain classroom projects, technical assignments, and hands-on learning activities.Lab, Equipment, and Safety OversightCoordinate setup, operation, and routine maintenance of electrical laboratories, tools, equipment, and training systems.Apply and enforce safe practices in all classroom and lab activities; ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry rules, regulations, and safety procedures.Maintain working knowledge of electrical systems, tools, testing procedures, installation techniques, and best practices used in the electrical industry.Collaborate with facilities, IT, and vendors to maintain a safe, effective, and well-functioning learning environment.Collaboration, Supervision, and CommunicationDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and BILT/industry partners in a diverse educational environment.Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with individuals from varied backgrounds.Provide guidance and coordination support to faculty and instructional staff associated with assigned programs.May assist with recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, and supervision of faculty, staff, or student employees, including completion of related documentation and performance feedback when assigned.Provide responsive, professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.Maintain regular and predictable attendance to support instructional and operational needs.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThorough knowledge of electrical theory, installation techniques, industry regulations, electrical codes, tools, equipment, and safety standards.Knowledge of classroom procedures, student conduct expectations, and instructional best practices.Ability to monitor, assess, and improve program effectiveness and instructional quality.Demonstrated commitment to supporting academic programs through quality, consistency, and excellence.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, records, and multiple responsibilities.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and BILT/industry partners.Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment and support student success.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and instructional technologies.EDUCATION / EXPERIENCEMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree or higher in Electrical Technology, Electrician Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and significant industry experience.Five (5) or more years of recent industry experience as an electrician or in a related electrical field.Journeyman Electrician License, certificate in the field, or equivalent industry credential.Demonstrated knowledge of:Electrical theory and wiring methodsElectrical tools, testing equipment, and installation proceduresElectrical safety practices and applicable codesPower distribution and electrical systemsAbility to teach and support credit-based electrical instruction.Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Preferred QualificationsBachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.Master Electrician License.Prior teaching, training, or instructional coordination experience in a higher education or technical training environment.Knowledge of electrical grids, regulations, power generation, power transmission, and power distribution.Industry certifications such as EIT, PE, PLC, SCADA, CEM, CAD, or similar credentials.Experience in workforce development or apprenticeship-related training programs.Relevant industry experience may be substituted for formal educational requirements.
