Occupational Therapist

Position: Occupational Therapist

District Requirements: CT License and be certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Demonstrate excellence in the area of Occupational Therapy

Responsibilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of an occupational therapist and specialty area.
  • Screening, assessment, planning, and programming
  • Goal and objective development
  • Monitor and collect data related to student learning.
  • Provide appropriate intervention services that are designed to enhance the student's potential for learning, assist the student in acquiring those functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment, and help the student function independently.
  • Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports.
  • Analyze needs and problems objectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required tasks to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including but not limited to data collection systems, Chromebooks, and communication apps.
  • Meet professional education requirements of the school district and state.
  • Knowledge and skills in working with children with ASD, ADD and behavior and emotional disabilities.
  • Must have proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Physical Responsibilities:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move, and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift).
  • Position can require some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.

Term/Duration: Start date of August 26, 2026 and follows the school calendar 2026-2027 (for the Extended School Year program: July 5-August 5, 2027)

Salary: Commensurate with experience
