Job Details Location: 6000 J ST, Sacramento, CA 95819, United States Base Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour Job Category: Part-time, On-campus, The WELL Employee Type: Casual Required Degree: None Manager: No Description The WELL at California State University Sacramento is seeking to hire enthusiastic, motivated, certified and experienced group fitness barre instructors to develop, monitor and deliver group exercise classes of various formats. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is a part‑time, temporary, non‑benefitted student and non‑student position. Employment is at will. UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI job per pay period. Employees who are considering leaving their current position should inform supervisor in writing with at least one week’s notice. Pre‑employment background checks may be conducted. Majors/Fields of Study Any Major Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks. Casual employees are limited to no more than 19.5 hours per week. Compensation $25.00 - $35.00 per hour Minimum Qualifications Ability to develop and lead group exercise classes Firm grasp of exercise science and strong interpersonal communication skills Desire to work in recreation and as part of a team Clear communication and ability to follow directions Barre instructor certification from a professionally recognized association CPR/AED/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire Preferred Qualifications Experience in fitness, dance, or martial arts related field Major or minor in RPTA/Kinesiology/Exercise Science Responsibilities Monitor activities for safety at all times Lead effective group exercise, dance, or martial arts classes with sound principles Communicate effectively with staff and participants Respond to injuries and emergencies; activate emergency action plan Attend pre‑semester training and all‑staff meetings throughout semester Foster professional standards among staff Address customer service questions positively Enforce policies of the WELL and Campus Recreation Assist in promotion of WELL events Complete other related duties as assigned Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision within normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work performed in office, conference space and fitness center. Continuous contact with staff and frequent contact with campus community and public.
