Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to support various operational tasks, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend improvements for workflow efficiency.
Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Decontaminate and update patient information as needed.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand all physician orders thoroughly.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, ensuring storage at the required temperature and in appropriate containers.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience.

This is a Contract position based out of Long Branch, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
