Inside the Paint Prepper Role at Crash Champions Surface preparation is equal parts chemistry and craftsmanship. Working in a fast-paced collision repair facility in Dallas, the prepper ensures that every panel is primed, smoothed, and stripped of contaminants. It is a position requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and strong collaboration with the paint team to keep vehicles on track for scheduled delivery. Core responsibilities include: Removing grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters. Assisting the painter in pre-paint blending needs to ensure accurate color matching. Collaborating with the paint team to keep vehicles on schedule for delivery. Filling small dents or scratches with body fillers and smoothing surfaces for optimal paint adhesion. Buffing and waxing finished paintwork to deliver a showroom-ready appearance. Disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling sprayers and power equipment using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths. Qualifications for the Paint Prepper Position Prior experience in vehicle paint processes. I-CAR certifications preferred. Compensation and Benefits Overview This position is paid on a commission or flag-rate structure, with pay guaranteed to meet local minimum wage requirements for all hours worked. Posted pay rates range from USD $40,000.00 to USD $99,200.00 per year, based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant certifications.
