Physician Advisor

Lee Health is seeking a Physician Advisor Lee Health is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of the Southwest Florida community. We are looking for an experienced physician (M.D. or D.O.) to serve as a non‑clinical Physician Advisor in an acute care setting. The advisor will focus on peer education, documentation accuracy, and resource optimization to improve patient throughput and experience. Responsibilities Provide peer education and subject‑matter expertise to physicians, case managers, and quality improvement teams. Assess patient admission criteria using the InterQual criteria set by Medicare and private insurers. Work one‑on‑one with case management to review and manage preauthorization denials. Ensure documentation is accurate and complete based on patient results and payor policies. Review and manage payor denials, identify documentation improvement opportunities, and standardize documentation practices. Collaborate with physicians, quality improvement teams, case managers, and patients to optimize patient status and resource utilization. Float to other hospital locations to support all specialties. Work Monday‑Friday during normal business hours with an on‑call rotation for weekends. Qualifications M.D. or D.O. with board eligibility or board certification. Experience in peer education, clinical documentation improvement, or a related clinical role. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to manage documentation accuracy and compliance with payor policies.
