Lead Field Engineer

Position Summary

2 Openings - The Lead Field Engineer and Tech serves as the primary on-site technical lead responsible for executing infrastructure readiness assessments across healthcare and enterprise facilities. This individual will lead field activities, direct assessment personnel, validate collected data, and ensure all findings, documentation, and recommendations are complete, accurate, and aligned with project standards.

The Lead Field Engineer is responsible for evaluating telecommunications infrastructure, structured cabling systems, power availability, telecommunications rooms, network connectivity, and site readiness while serving as the primary technical liaison between project leadership, field resources, and client stakeholders.

1 Opening - The Wireless Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, analyzing, and documenting wireless network assessments across

healthcare and enterprise facilities. This individual will leverage Ekahau AI Pro, Ekahau Sidekick, and industry best practices to evaluate RF performance,

identify wireless coverage issues, validate access-point placement, and develop remediation recommendations.

The Wireless Engineer will work closely with assessment teams to align wireless findings with infrastructure, power, cabling, and facility readiness requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment Leadership

• Lead on-site infrastructure readiness assessments across multiple locations.
• Direct daily activities of field technicians and coordinate efforts with wireless engineering resources.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact during site visits.
• Ensure assessment activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project standards.

Infrastructure Evaluation

• Assess telecommunications rooms, network closets, structured cabling systems, patch panels, switches, and supporting infrastructure.
• Validate existing network-jack inventories and identify discrepancies.
• Review cable pathways, network connectivity, labeling standards, rack layouts, and cable management.
• Evaluate existing infrastructure for reuse and identify remediation requirements.

Documentation & Quality Control

• Validate floor plans and ensure all infrastructure components are accurately documented.
• Review cable test results, jack inventories, photographs, and assessment artifacts for completeness.
• Identify risks, infrastructure deficiencies, access constraints, and readiness concerns.
• Produce detailed site findings and technical recommendations.

Stakeholder Communication

• Communicate findings to project leadership and customer representatives.
• Escalate issues, risks, and exceptions discovered during site assessments.
• Participate in quality reviews and documentation validation sessions.

Must-Have Qualifications

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years leading structured cabling, telecommunications, or infrastructure assessment projects.
• Experience evaluating telecommunications rooms, IDFs, MDFs, patch panels, and structured cabling systems.
• Experience conducting infrastructure audits, site surveys, or network readiness assessments.
• Proven experience leading on-site technical resources.

Technical Requirements

• Strong understanding of:
  • Structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber)
  • Telecommunications rooms and network closets
  • Patch panel design and documentation
  • Cable testing and certification methodologies
  • Network infrastructure standards and best practices
• Experience using cable testing and cable tracing equipment.
• Ability to interpret floor plans, construction drawings, and network documentation.
• Experience performing site assessments and documentation.
• Ability to work independently in healthcare or enterprise environments.
• Strong customer-facing communication.
• Experience producing actionable findings and reports.

Soft Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and executive stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to travel extensively to client locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• BICSI Technician (TECH)
• BICSI RCDD
• CCNA
• CompTIA Network+
• Healthcare infrastructure experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $61.85 - $61.85/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
