Peer Recovery Specialist

Description We are Seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist for our STARS Program! Who are We: Since 1985, Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Inc. We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges. What You'll Do at BCCS as a Peer Recovery Specialist: Provide peer support services, serving as a client advocate. Provide client information and peer support for clients in a variety of settings. Support clients in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process. Model competency in recovery and wellness Responsible for providing quality, sufficient, and appropriate services and for maintain high professional standards. Support clients in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition. Assist individuals with self-care and self-awareness, encouragement and support, teaching coping skills, and teaching the positive benefits of long-term recovery. This position is primarily a community-based position, so it requires in home and community visit. Work will be performed outside of an office setting on a regular and consistent basis. Requirements REQUIRED : High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED : Must be over 18 years of age. REQUIRED : Valid driver's license with 2 points or less. May need to use your own vehicle if a BCCS car is not available. REQUIRED : Must be a Peer/Person with lived experience. BCCS defines a peer as anyone who is in recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol. REQUIRED : Minimum of 2 year's clean PREFFERED: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). If you are not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment. Schedule: Monday - Friday In the range of 5:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Evenings / weekends as needed for community events Hours are subject to change when treatment vehicle goes mobile, and community mobile sites are added. Salary: Starting at $18/hour Commensurate with experience, education, and certification!
