About the Position

The Rental Technician Supervisor leads the daily operations of the rental technician area at Schuss Mountain. This position is responsible for scheduling, training, and supporting rental technicians while ensuring that rental equipment is properly maintained, accurately fitted, and ready for guests.

The Supervisor sets expectations for service, safety, productivity, and teamwork. This position also works closely with Ski Operations and other resort departments to maintain an efficient rental process and deliver an exceptional experience for skiers and snowboarders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the daily activities of rental technicians.
  • Prepare employee schedules based on anticipated business levels and operational needs.
  • Assign daily responsibilities and adjust staffing as guest volume changes.
  • Train employees on equipment fitting, adjustment, inspection, documentation, safety procedures, and guest-service expectations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to rental employees.
  • Promote a positive, welcoming, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure skis, snowboards, boots, poles, helmets, and other rental equipment are properly inspected, fitted, maintained, stored, and tracked.
  • Confirm that all equipment adjustments and fittings are completed according to manufacturer requirements and established safety procedures.
  • Monitor equipment condition and coordinate repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate equipment, inventory, service, and operational records.
  • Monitor the rental process and make adjustments to reduce wait times and improve the guest experience.
  • Assist guests with equipment selection, fitting, questions, concerns, and service recovery.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Ensure the rental area remains clean, organized, safe, and adequately supplied.
  • Communicate staffing, equipment, safety, and operational concerns to management.
  • Support opening, closing, cash-handling, and reporting procedures as assigned.
  • Follow and enforce all resort policies and safety requirements.
  • Perform rental technician duties during busy periods when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in ski or snowboard rentals, outdoor recreation, hospitality, retail, or a related customer-service environment.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to train employees and provide clear direction and feedback.
  • Ability to manage schedules and adjust staffing based on changing business needs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to safety and detail.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience in a ski or snowboard rental operation.
  • Knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment, fitting standards, and adjustment procedures.
  • Experience with rental-management or point-of-sale systems.
  • Equipment manufacturer or binding-adjustment certification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Strong leadership and team-development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and guest-service abilities.
  • Knowledge of safe rental-equipment fitting and handling practices.
  • Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to coach employees and address performance or service concerns.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
  • Ability to identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during high-volume periods.
  • Basic computer, scheduling, and inventory-management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other resort departments.
Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and handle rental equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move ski and snowboard equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in a busy rental environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and guest volume.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in winter-weather conditions when required.
  • Ability to wear the required uniform and appropriate winter-weather clothing.
