About the Position

Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 1 year of chemotherapy experience License: Current RN License Certifications: ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, Basic Life Support, ACLS, Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Must-Have: - Outpatient infusion experience - Current chemotherapy certification Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by the physician. Consults with other medical personnel and provides expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc. Assumes responsibility for clinic-specific assignments. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients to share care plans while in the clinic and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients and families. Answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to treatment and assists with coordination of care. Performs other duties as assigned.
