MDOC-Registered Nurse P11-12- Northern Correctional Facilities

Become a Registered Nurse in the Northern Region Registered Nurse positions have various responsibilities, including inpatient, outpatient, or residential treatment program duties in a correctional facility or as part of Corrections Mental Health Program. Depending on the assignment, the RN may work in multiple settings. Registered Nurse P11 is an experienced‑level nurse performing a broad range of nursing duties. No specific experience is required. Registered Nurse P12 functions as a senior worker or as an emergency/clinic nursing services specialist. One year of experience as an RN or a master’s/bachelor’s degree in nursing and six months experience is required. Duties of Senior Level Positions The senior RN is expected to independently assess and treat correctional prisoners across all settings, including housing units, camps, transport vehicles, and ambulances. The role requires advanced clinical decision making, independent judgment, and the provision of life‑saving care. Positions are located at various correctional facilities throughout the state. Applicants may select preferred work location and shift availability. Signing Bonus New hires will receive a $5,000 signing bonus paid in two installments: $1,500 in the first pay period and $3,500 after one year of satisfactory service. The bonus must be repaid if the employee leaves within one year. Brooks & Muskegon Correctional Facility) Newberry (Newberry Correctional Facility) St. Louis (St. Louis and Central Michigan Correctional Facility) Required Education and Experience Education: Diploma, associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing. Experience: P11: No specific experience required. P12: One year of experience equivalent to an RN P11, or a master's degree, or a bachelor's degree and six months experience. Additional Requirements and Information Your application will remain on file for six months. Applicants convicted of a felony or misdemeanor may be screened out; such individuals are ineligible until completion of any sentence, including parole or probation. All employees must meet high ethical standards; confidentiality and conflict of interest reporting are required.
