Role Description The Assistant Nurse Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Chapel Hill, NC, supporting the daily operations of a clinical nursing unit. This role collaborates with the Nurse Manager to oversee staff scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource allocation to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides direct clinical leadership at the bedside, offering guidance on complex cases, supporting evidence-based practice, and fostering a patient- and family-centered care environment. Responsibilities include coaching and mentoring nursing staff, assisting with onboarding and competency validation, and promoting teamwork and professional development. The role also supports quality improvement initiatives, monitors compliance with policies and regulatory standards, participates in performance evaluations, and contributes to unit-level planning and communication. Qualifications Clinical nursing expertise, including strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient care coordination skills. Leadership and supervisory capabilities, such as team coaching, conflict resolution, and staff mentoring. Organizational and time management skills to oversee unit operations, staffing, and workflow efficiency. Communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with patients, families, interdisciplinary teams, and leadership. Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; prior experience in a charge nurse or nurse leader role is an advantage.
