Job Title: Registered Nurse, Critical Care Unit Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, with potential for Monday Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: RN License Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test Description: This position is a weekend-only contract. We are looking for highly motivated critical care nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care environment. The unit provides care to some of the most critically ill patients. Patients include those requiring care from a variety of diagnoses, with a focus on cardiothoracic surgery and neuro/neurosurgery. The team has been called on to provide ICU-level care for patients suffering from COVID-19, including those on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The unit capacity is 15 beds. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. Direct patient care staff consists of registered nurses and patient care technicians. Core patient population includes cardiac surgery, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmias. Patients served range from adolescence through late adulthood.
