ASC Registered Nurse - OR

The ASC Registered Nurse OR provides safe, quality patient care in the operating room area. The RN provides care and support to patients before, during and after surgery along with assisting the surgeon and the surgical team in their tasks. Responsibilities Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. Prepares operating room for procedure. Evaluates medical information and provides direct, individualized bedside nursing care to pre‑ and post‑surgery patients. Functions in a scrub and circulating nurse role. Assists in positioning and addressing patient comfort and safety. Serves as the communication liaison to family and operating team members. Provides accurate care and handling of specimens. Prepares, administers and records prescribed medications. Communicates preoperative instructions to the patient. Performs other position‑related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct, comply with applicable laws and regulations, maintain HIPAA confidentiality, report concerns, and complete annual compliance training. Certifications, Licensures or Registry Requirements RN license and certification as required by state. BLS certification required. ACLS certification required. Knowledge | Skills | Abilities Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR. Strong clinical knowledge and ability to develop a patient‑care plan in preparation for surgery. Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Education Requirements Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Experience Requirements Minimum 2 years’ experience as OR Nurse.
