Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- ASCP certification
- Prior lab experience and knowledge


Responsibilities
- Examines prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities.
- Using diagnostic codes, report negative cases and refers abnormal cases to the pathologists for review.
- Keeps records of work performed on daily basis.
- Responsible for maintaining the microscope in working condition.
- May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis.
- Participates in all continuing education programs. Maintains record of work performed.
- Responsible for the cytologic studies of specimens and for the initial screening and reporting of normal GYN cases, referring all abnormal cases for pathology review.
- May read Non-GYN and report the findings to the pathologists for final review and reporting.
- Promotes quality relations and creates supportive climate by serving as a role model.
- Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory.
- Adheres to all laboratory policies and regulations.
- Works with minimal direction.
- Functions as a liaison between the laboratory and laboratory clients. Performs other related duties
