Job Summary:

LaMarco Systems in Northbrook, IL is seeking an experienced Commercial Security Systems Service Technician responsible for the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming of commercial low-voltage systems. These systems include intrusion alarms, video surveillance, access control, networking, and related security technologies.

The ideal candidate should also have basic knowledge of commercial fire alarm systems and a strong interest and ability to receive additional training and expand their fire alarm expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
• Troubleshoot, service, and resolve issues involving CCTV, access control, card readers, locking hardware, intrusion alarms, servers, software, and system programming.
• Assist with basic fire alarm service and troubleshooting based on current experience and training.
• Participate in ongoing training to develop stronger fire alarm knowledge and technical capabilities.
• Complete all required service documentation accurately and promptly through the company's electronic CRM system.
• Follow the daily service schedule provided by the Service Coordinator or Service Manager using a company-issued mobile device.
• Deliver professional, courteous service and system training to customers.
• Participate in continuous technical and job-related education.
• Maintain accurate records of parts and equipment inventory.
• Operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and work overtime when necessary.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, industry standards, and company policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience servicing, troubleshooting, installing, and programming commercial access control, intrusion alarm, and/or IP video surveillance systems.
• Basic knowledge of commercial fire alarm systems.
• Ability and willingness to learn fire alarm installation, service, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and programming.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with CCTV, access control, card readers, electronic locking hardware, intrusion alarms, networking, servers, and system programming.
• Manufacturer-specific product knowledge and installation or programming experience with systems such as Bosch, BlueBox, Brivo, Eagle Eye, Exacq, S2, and Schlage Engage is preferred.
• Solid understanding of basic computer networking, hardware, software, and system diagnostics.
• Ability to learn new software, equipment, and technologies quickly.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage service priorities, and complete documentation on time.
• Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Must possess or qualify for a Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) from the State of Illinois.

This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skillset. This role is also eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k match, pet insurance, short term/long term disability, etc...

Compensation Rate

$27—$33 USD

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
