Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Must have RN license in hand Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to complete state RN license application within 48 hours of signing Description: PCU RN license pending is acceptable. Must be able to complete state RN license application within 48 hours of signing. Must have RN license in hand for auto-offer. Assignment length is 13 weeks. Shift options are 4x12 or 3x12 nights, based on traveler’s choice. First timers accepted are welcome. Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other week and is subject to staffing needs. Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs. No local candidates accepted; candidates' permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility. Time off requests will be approved on an individual basis upon offer. All time off must be included in submission. Guaranteed hours are 60 hours per 2 weeks, with the possibility of being called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks. This is a stepdown unit from ICU with a wide variety of patient populations. Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model is utilized on this unit. For every patient, there is one bedside RN, a virtual RN, and one CNA. Bedside RN to patient ratio is 1:4. CNA to patient ratio is 1:6. The virtual nurse works remotely to assist with admission, discharge, rounding, education, plans of care, and safety rounds. Approximately 30% of the patient population is cardiac in nature, including CHF, MI, postoperative TAVR, MVR, cardiac arrhythmias, and more. Respiratory patients include those with COVID, flu, COPD, and asthma exacerbations. The unit also accommodates overflow for neuro and renal patients, as well as complicated medical surgical patients requiring higher levels of monitoring. This facility is a magnet facility and level II trauma center with a total of 407 staffed beds. Scrub color is provided. Charting is completed using Epic. This role does not require call. Required skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac telemetry, central line care, and more. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 36. This unit has interdisciplinary support from various teams. Special procedures include complex medical care that meets diverse patient needs. Candidates must be open to working two out of three major holidays. References are required prior to the start. Candidates must be willing to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals.
