As a Physical Therapist, you will utilize various exercises to help patients increase strength, range of motion, endurance and coordination. Because this position requires close interaction, you have the opportunity to build strong relationships with both patients and their families. Often, your patients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity is important. Ultimately, your unconditional support and reassurance can drive them to work hard and regain their health. A caregiver in this role works a day/evening rotation from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs. Interpret plans and supervise patient treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of the patient. Review and evaluate the patient's response or lack thereof to treatment. Make recommendations to the physician relative to the need to continue or discontinue physical therapy treatment. Provide appropriate documentation of each patient's visit in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Be responsible for the maintenance and care of all equipment and apparatus. Be responsible for the economical use of supplies, linens and utilities. Provide appropriate billing for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Assist in on-the-job training of all ancillary personnel. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include Bachelor's Degree or certificate Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association or a related international degree Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Internship experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include Prior rehabilitation experience Physical Requirements Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel. Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS OF POSITION The occupant of this position spends 98% his/her time in air‑conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas. The potential for exposure to blood and blood‑borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties. This position requires reasoning, mathematical and English language skills. Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests. Ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively. Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities. Self‑starting and self‑motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work.
