Physical Security Specialist

Summary This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Safety, Security, and Asset Management, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Responsibilities As a Physical Security Specialist, you will: Develop and implement training programs for SOC personnel and provides ongoing training on security protocols, technologies, and best practices. Develop a daily blotter ensuring all incidents are captured; reviews investigative statements for accuracy; obtains witness statements; and prepares final reports with recommendations. Conduct oversight of assigned security staff, provides overwatch of guard operations, and reviews guard force investigative statements for accuracy. Develop and periodically implements emergency action and response plans; reviews internal and external response plans, procedural manuals, employee education programs, and emergency drills. Utilize command and control systems, UHF radios, WebEOC, and mutual aid FM channels to ensure adequate notification and response operations meet CDC security requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service performing or of the following: Serving as a technical authority by developing and delivering training on 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) operations, including electronic access control, IDS, CCTV, and biological agent surveillance systems. Training personnel on critical administrative functions, including daily reports, blotters, and formal incident report writing. Providing oversight and training for contract guard forces to ensure compliance with security standard operating procedures (SOPs). Developing and implementing National Incident Management System (NIMS) strategies to coordinate complex emergency response operations with internal and external stakeholders. Conducting specialized training on critical notification, mobilization, radio communications, mutual aid coordination, and WebEOC utilization for emergency response personnel. OR Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related OR Have a combination of education and experience that meets 100% of the requirements.
