General Health & Safety Trainer

Location: Northern CA, Bay Area, and LA East/Metro/Southern CA (multiple positions) Engagement Type: 1099 Independent Contractor — as-needed, assigned via approved Work Order Compensation: $50/hour ($400/8-hour day), per Sigma’s Attachment 8 rate build-up. Paid per class taught (2-hour classes typical, prorated by course length).

ABOUT THE ROLE

Sigma is seeking general health & safety trainers to deliver short, non-certification awareness courses to facility staff and contractors at state buildings. This is an ideal role for an experienced EHS professional who wants flexible, as-needed teaching assignments close to home.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver 2-4 hour in-person awareness classes such as Asbestos Awareness, Silica Awareness, Airborne/Bloodborne Pathogens, Valley Fever Awareness, Water Treatment, SPCC Plans, Hazardous Material Business Plans/CERS, and Basic/Universal Hazardous Waste Management. Prepare and bring all required handouts, sign-in sheets, and course materials. Administer knowledge checks/quizzes where required and issue completion certificates. Communicate scheduling availability and confirm assignments through Sigma’s scheduling coordinator. Submit sign-in sheets and completion documentation within 48 hours of each class.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 2 years of experience delivering workplace safety or environmental compliance training. Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA General Industry and Construction Safety Orders (Title 8, CCR). Comfortable presenting to small and mid-size groups (up to ~25 participants). Reliable transportation; able to travel within assigned region. Pass a background check consistent with state facility access requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, environmental science, or related field. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Experience training in government or institutional facility settings. #J-18808-Ljbffr Sigma Training Solutions
