POSITION SUMMARY:

The Saw Operator, using various grades of metal and bar stock is responsible for the setup and operation of the horizontal band saw and circular saw to cut parts and material used in the manufacturing process. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Ability to perform essential duties

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Six (6) months of related factory experience

·         Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers and use simple math to perform basic calculations.

·         Stores and issues bar stock and tubing in the proper lengths, dimensions and material types, both physically and systematically.

·         Set-up and operate metal cutting saws (band and circular) to cut bar stock and tubing to specified lengths.

·         Install saw blades prescribed for type of material, set stop gauges, saw speeds and indexing mechanisms such as may be provided for automatic positioning of materials; may be required to replace and align band and circular saw blades,

·         Operates crane with hoist for loading and unloading saws and storing new material received on racks.

·         Responsible for the correct identification of raw material.  Marks bar stock and tubing with number codes to maintain the proper identity.

·         Perform inspection of machined parts using calipers and basic measuring tools.

·         Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

·         Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.

·         Maintains work area and equipment in clean orderly condition, performs preventative maintenance and follows prescribed safety procedures.

·         Ability to work with chemicals, solvents, adhesives, and lubricants.

·         Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the department, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other department members.

·         Perform all other duties, as assigned.

·         Sits occasionally up to 2.5 hours a day.

·         Bend/stoop occasionally up to 2.5 hours a day.

·         Reach above occasionally up to 2.5 hours a day.

·         Drive, use of foot controls occasionally up to 2.5 hours a day.

·         Pushing/Pulling frequently up to 7 hours a day.

·         Fine manipulation rarely.

·         Grip frequently up to 7 hours a day for tool use and parts handling.

·         Balance continuously up to 10 hours a day - working around machines and equipment.

·         Lift/Carry parts ranging from 0 lb. – 10 lbs. continuously up to 10 hours a day.

·         Lift/Carry parts ranging from 10 lbs. – 20 lbs. occasionally up to 2.5 hours a day.

·         Lift/Carry parts ranging from 20 lbs. – 50 lbs. rarely

·         Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
